Colville, WA - USA Youth Education in Shooting Sports (USAYESS) announced today that Brian Beard, of Utah, has been appointed to Western Regional Director.

“The USAYESS board has discussed the Western Regional Director's position that was unfortunately and regretfully vacated by the passing of our dear friend Rose Ackley," explains Mike Borg. Presidnet of USAYESS. "Rose had been working with Brian Beard, UTYESS State Director and the USAYESS Webtools Director on her region's items. Brian has also been helping with the UT-NV-ID Tri-State Triple Challenge, USAYESS -iYESS Virtual Leagues, the Western Regional Tournament, iClays, national registrations, MidwayUSA Foundation team accounts, helping teams get started and other items she felt he needed to know. The USAYESS Board, which Rose was a part of, had discussed her vacancy and they voted to appoint Brian Beard as her replacement."

Brian has been President of Utah Youth Education in Shooting Sports (UTYESS) since 2017 and will continue in that position concurrently. The year Brian was elected UTYESS president, Utah had just 51 athletes participating. Today that is the size of one of 12 teams Utah has statewide. This year Utah hopes to see over 300 student athletes participating in UTYESS events.

Brian is quick to point out, however, that much of Utah's success cannot solely be credited to his efforts, but to the coaches and volunteers that have put in countless hours to make sure the program as a whole is successful.

Borg concludes the announcement with "Brian, congratulations on your new position...there was no arguing about this...[Rose] was adamant that you take her place. Scott was also involved in this decision and also approved of the nomination. This was one of the toughest decisions this organization has had to make and I pray to God that I don't have to go through it again. Rose will be deeply missed but never forgotten.”
